FAQ

Answers before you have to ask. The things people want to know before they pick up the phone — and if yours isn't here, call, we'd rather tell you than have you guess.

Everything we get asked

The short answers.

No hedging, no 'prices vary' — where a number depends on the job, we say what it depends on.

Are you insured?

Yes. Sullivan's Hauling is insured, so your property is covered while we're working on it — the stairwell, the floors, the driveway, the doorframe we're easing a sectional through. Plenty of buildings want a certificate of insurance on file before a crew can use the freight elevator. Ask and we'll get one over to your manager.

How much does it cost?

You pay for the space your stuff takes up in the truck, not per item. Send a photo of the pile and you'll get a number back before we start — and that number is what you pay. Stairs, long carries, taking things apart and sweeping up are part of the job, not add-ons, and there's no call-out fee for coming to you.

How soon can you come?

Most weeks we can be there the same day or the next, anywhere in the Bay Area. We keep the schedule deliberately loose so a job that comes in on a morning can go out that afternoon. Call and we'll tell you honestly what's open.

Do I have to move everything outside first?

No. We carry it out from wherever it sits — the back of the garage, a second-floor bedroom, the side yard. Point at it and we'll do the lifting. If it's already at the curb that's fine too, it's just easier on your back if we handle it.

Is there anything you can't take?

Chemicals and solvents, gasoline and other fuels, asbestos or anything asbestos-adjacent, and wet or unhardened paint. Everything else, ask — the answer is usually yes.

Will you come out for just one thing?

Yes. One couch is a real job, and so is a single mattress, one appliance, or the hot tub nobody has used in four years. There's no minimum pile and no talking you into a bigger clear-out — it's priced the same way as everything else, by the space it takes in the truck.

Where does my stuff actually go?

Furniture that still has life in it goes to donation. Metal, appliances and e-waste get sorted out for recycling. Only what's genuinely finished goes to the transfer station. We live here too, so the sorting isn't a line item — it's just how the load gets handled.

Do you do demolition, or only hauling?

Both, and usually in the same visit. Decks, sheds, fences, hot tubs, kitchen cabinets, flooring, non-structural walls — taken apart and hauled away without a pile sitting in the side yard for a week. Structural work, anything needing a permit, and anything involving asbestos needs a licensed specialist; we'll say so and point you somewhere useful.

Do you come out to my part of the Bay?

The San Francisco Bay Area — the city itself, the East Bay, Marin, the Peninsula and down into the South Bay. Same crew, same volume pricing, whatever side of the water the address is on. Give us the address and we'll tell you what we can do and when.

What's the fastest way to get a price?

Text a photo to 510-731-9458. One picture tells us more than a form ever will, and it's how most quotes actually happen. If you'd rather write it out, the quote form asks the same handful of questions we'd ask on the phone.

Still wondering about something?

Call us and ask. If we're not the right crew for your job, we'll say so.
